Stability Evaluation by using Critical Trajectory
Importance of stability analysis has been highly-publicized and needs for real-time analysis is increasing due to deregulation in power industry. In particular, the very quick growth of power systems spurs to make it difficult particularly in transient stability analysis. Energy Function Method and Simulation Method are well-known as the conventional transient stability analysis method. The former can give a strict stability criterion but needs so large computational efforts. The latter does not need large computational efforts but cannot provide a strict result.
In this study, a brand new stability discrimination method by directly evaluating the after-fault critical trajectory is proposed, and applied to Energy Function Method to get a new transient stability analysis method. At present, we are expanding this method to propose a new method that can solve simultaneously both of stability manifold of transient stability analysis model and unstable equilibrium point. Moreover, this method is applied to BCU method, which is a kind of Energy Function Method. BCU method frequently encounters the convergence problem of calculation for unstable equilibrium point, this proposed method can overcome the problem.
